Caroline County Virginia is located less than 30 miles north of Richmond, the state capital, and is 70 miles south of Washington D.C. Caroline is also in the Richmond, VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, with over 1.2 Million in population. Enjoy the serene rural beauty of historic Caroline County, established in 1728, birthplace of renowned racehorse Secretariat and named in honor of King George II’s wife, Caroline. Life moves slower out in Caroline, with five distinct towns: Port Royal, Bowling Green, Ruther Glen, Milford, and Woodford. These charming towns each have their own character but the low cost of living and affordable housing make any of Caroline County’s towns ideal places to live and work.

Caroline County is known for its agricultural bounty but it’s also home to some amazing recreational opportunities. The Mattaponi and Rappahannock River are wonderful fishing and boating destinations: visitors can watch wildlife or rent a kayak in Port Royal! Golfers have three excellent courses to choose from: Pendleton Golf Club, Mattaponi Springs Golf Club, and Four Winds Golf Club.
