A neuropsychology practice plans to open two offices this year on William Street in downtown Fredericksburg.

Neuropsychology & Complementary Medicine of Fredericksburg Inc. (NaCMed), which opened in 2011, recently leased the 2,400-square-foot space at 608 William St. and plans to start seeing patients there Monday.

The company’s principals, married couple Scott and Catherine Ward, also plan to purchase the property at 417 William St. from Mike Degen and open a second NaCMed office there. The sale is expected to close within a month, and the Wards hope to open the office a few months later.

Degen will keep the adjacent vacant lot at 425 William St. across from Hurkamp Park, though some parking will be reserved for NaCMed. Degen plans to build a four-story, mixed-use project at 425 William called Parkview that will include about 14 residential condominiums and street-level commercial space. He hopes to start work late this spring.

NaCMed is relocating from the office building at 3504 Plank Road in Spotsylvania County after outgrowing the space. The Wards looked at many local properties with Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite Realtor Charlotte Rouse before settling on downtown Fredericksburg. They look forward to being able to walk to coffee shops and restaurants and think their patients will do the same.

NaCMed offers diagnostic and treatment services to an array of patients including those diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, strokes, Alzheimer’s Disease, autism, psychiatric disorders and more.

The company works closely with patients at Snowden at Fredericksburg and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Fredericksburg. It also does a lot of pro bono work and periodically invites in children to read to the practice’s two therapy dogs, Rusty and Dude.
