Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite represented the buyers who recently closed on the purchase of the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, at 1001 Princess Anne St. and 215 William St. The property, also known as The Catherine W. Jones McKann Center or The Planter’s Bank Building was sold at auction back in February of this year where LaPlata, Md.-based Battle Creek Construction submitted the winning bid at the auction at $1.4 million. After submitting a revised bid of $1.6 million and paying closing costs the total purchase price came to $1.76 million.
Battle Creek Construction was represented in the purchase by Carl Braun and Cameron Coleman with Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite, who have also been retained to head leasing efforts for the properties. Braun and Coleman have been actively pursuing users for the buildings with a focus on unique restaurant concepts, professional office users, and boutique retailers.
Battle Creek Construction owners, Matthew Calvin and Ryan Jenkins, who have extensive experience in design and construction of government facilities including the U.S. Treasury Building, have spent the past few months studying the buildings and creating a vision for the space. Since the auction the Fredericksburg Area Museum has relocated and have removed all interior exhibits, providing a open, clean view of the magnificent spaces the building has to offer.
The buildings offers a mix of retail and office space, including the grand two story open space within the Princess Anne (Planter’s Bank) Building.
