The owners of a popular sushi-focused Japanese restaurant in Fredericksburg will open a second area location in North Stafford.

Umi Japanese Fine Dining will open a restaurant at 20 Dunn Drive inside a 5,500-square-foot building formerly occupied by Ruby Tuesday and Marlin & Ray’s restaurants in the Doc Stone Commons shopping center.

The North Stafford restaurant will open in about three months following a renovation.

An Umi affiliate on Wednesday purchased the building for $1.65 million, according to a press release from Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite, which helped broker the sale.

Charlotte Rouse and Donny Self with Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite represented Umi on the transaction, and Dimitri Georgelakos with KLNB Retail represented the seller.
