(Stafford County, VA, April 3, 2019) – The largest center for cyber security in a HUBZone in the Commonwealth of Virginia slated to open this August just teamed up with Southern University (SU) and the Southern University System Foundation (SUSF). Building on its legacy since 1880 of partnerships between higher education and the public and private sectors, SU will be joining X Corp Solutions at its new Center of Excellence. With five campuses already in three of the largest cities in Louisiana, Southern University will soon have a significant presence just outside of the nation’s capital and adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico.
The center will provide state-of-the-art classrooms and conference rooms where Southern University will install faculty and select students as they work on cybersecurity research projects and collaborate on contract proposals with X Corp and other members of the American Cyber League (ACL). ACL’s mission is to establish an agnostic “Cyber Domain Ecosystem” where people, processes and capabilities are brought together to customize solutions for customers and accelerate the operational implementation of Advanced Cyber Technologies in support of National Security. Classroom lectures taking place at the Quantico Corporate Center can be beamed back to classrooms at Sothern’s campuses. Additionally, Southern will assist X Corp and the ACL in creating certification programs for professionals already working in the cyber security field, or those hoping to join it.
